My first duty is to protect the rights and liberties of every citizen. That is why government is ordained by God and "instituted among men."

I promise to support and maintain the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution and laws of North Carolina, and to faithfully discharge the duties of my office as a member of the General Assembly in the NC House of Representatives.
